Regarding the favourite places in the world, The Maldives is currently at the top of the list. And nobody does luxury in the Maldives quite like Six Senses Laamu. At Six Senses Laamu, you can do everything or nothing.
This is the steeply-priced abandoned island vacation of your dreams, with busy mornings spent surfing, paddle boarding, or cycling across the island and leisurely afternoons spent drinking rosé on your private infinity pool.
Grace Hotel Santorini, an Auberge Resort, is undoubtedly among the best resorts in Greece and the globe. Located in Imerovigli village on Santorini. It provides a panoramic view of the sunset (in contrast to nearby Oia). Its tucked-away location in Imerovigli makes it a far less crowded, extremely isolated option for a magnificent inn in Santorini. My favourites were their stunning infinity pool, meals (SO GOOD!!! ), and champagne front lounge for sundown cocktails.
Uxua, surrounded by lush jungle and perched on a ridge overlooking the powder-sand-fringed Atlantic, fits well into Trancoso's post-hippie utopia. Working with local artisans, Dutch owner Wilbert Das (Diesel's previous inventive director) transformed the lodge into a collection of rustic renovated Casas, cottages, an intimate treehouse, and a tribal-stimulated spa. All are surrounded by hummingbird-flecked tropical gardens and centred on a pool coated in inexperienced aventurine quartz. It is said to be particularly therapeutic for those who aren't up on their recuperation crystals. Interiors are Haute-boho: spacious indoor-outdoor sitting spaces and ethereal living areas with dazzling-white dividers and muslin-canopied beds, accentuated with an abundance of reclaimed wood, antiques, and antique reveals including vividly painted Virgin Mary statues. Statuettes of Mary A covered path leads through mangrove forests to the seashore, where there are good-sized day beds for post-breakfast slumbering and a seashore bar fashioned from an antique fishing boat—live horizontal. Another Caipirinha will swiftly find its way to you.
The Four Seasons Bora Bora is also the most beautiful lodge on the planet, located on the most well-known island in the South Pacific, Bora Bora. This inn is the height of luxury, with five-star service and all of the romantic splendour of the South Seas. This location is nirvana, with huge overwater bungalows, views of Bora Bora's stunning mountains and the endless ocean. Infinity pools, four onsite island restaurants, an open-air fitness club and a waterfront spa, and world-magnificence service are available only at Four Seasons resorts.
Arriving at this location atop the Baja Peninsula feels like returning home. Many workforces are third-technology personnel who now recall whether you pick your margarita produced with tequila or mezcal and where you want your yoga mat stationed in your room. And the individual rooms, whitewashed hacienda-styled architecture adorned with hand-embroidered textiles, as well as perks like private butlers, a fantastic wellness suite, spa room, and beachfront cabana, reflect Cabo's development as Latin America's modern-day affluent hotspot. There is no shortage of glamorous new five-star hotels, but as the area's first proper hotel, Palmilla has a vital advantage: real estate.
Its quiet location on one of Cabo's most beautiful swimmable beaches is unparalleled. Hollywood's aristocracy went here in the 1950s, and today a clean technology of A-listers does the same. In an age of social-media noise, a commitment to discretion, undying glamour, and consistent reinvention (new health services from religious healer Alicia Kanxoc) have allowed Baja's big hitter to maintain conserving court.
The things that bring you here differ from those that stay with you the most once you go; thus, no more the slide that plunges from the top floor of your overwater villa into the Indian Ocean, or the ice cream parlour or the floating breakfast to your pool. Of course, they're fantastic—but the characteristics that keep people returning to Soneva year after year, despite the constant migration of Maldives openings, appear noticeably less horny on Instagram. The foliage comes first: There's as much tropical flora as boundless blue sky and sea. Then there are the minor discoveries you make when cycling to breakfast, such as the rabbits who appear for leftovers and take a seat on the sand beneath your feet. Even more extraordinary is Soneva's commitment to sustainability, which began long before it became a catchphrase. Currently, 90% of the island's garbage is recycled or reused. For every celebrity you see here (and you will), there are artists, sculptors, chefs, and jewellers who have been encouraged to transform trash cans or kitchen leftovers into works of beauty. You will dine at Soneva's plant-based restaurant, which is rooted in its natural garden, and you will leave with an excellent understanding of what lurks beneath the seas (via its marine-conservation program) and above the waves (with an astronomy session). It appears to be a location to look at the bigger view; the wind, waves, and clouds are visible.
Qasr Al Sarab appears from the sands deep within Abu Dhabi's remote Empty Quarter like a fever dream. The fortlike enclave, with its crenellated walls, faux watchtowers, and horseshoe arches, appears at the end of a slick ribbon of pavement that snakes through Earl Grey tea-coloured dunes. Small canals built after medieval Arabian falaj irrigation structures bring cooling water among courtyards, while date arms colour its bold boundary. Inside, the information provides just enough of a sense of place—Moroccan-style lights and complex mashrabiya screens, or even the typical Bedouin relic, like a knife or a brass coffeepot—that feels useful rather than kitschy. The Sienna-walled visitor rooms are furnished with wood chests and plush-patterned rugs.
This Strip favourite illustrates that Vegas Chic isn't an oxymoron, with its gold-gilded peacock statues, red-trimmed pool cabanas, and enough fountains to challenge the Romans. When you walk into the Wynn, you enter an exotic fantasy: the lobby is gleaming with herbal light and filled with changing floral sculptures. (There's a reason it's one of the city's most Instagrammed sites.) Behind the marquetry doors of the brand new Delilah supper club, names you'll see beneath the hovering cast-brass arms that evoke icons like L.A.'s Cocoanut Grove and Havana's Tropicana Club. In contrast, the recently-opened Casa Playa serves dishes from Mexico's Pacific and Atlantic coasts to a packed house of lovely people.
Meanwhile, the Overlook Lounge is an excellent rework of the valued lounge, offering a menu of beverages with acceptable for-eating scents. This flurry of openings is only the beginning of an expansion that has already brought Van Cleef & Arpels and a multi-salon Chanel shop with its private terrace. Overlooking the Wynn cascades are more big names and Two hundred million dollars in room improvements on the way. There's a reason Wynn has been the city's inn gold standard since it first debuted 17 years ago—and it continues to gild the lily.
